While some develop talent, others are simply born gifted. Relena-Rochelle is a rising force in Christian R&B/Hip-Hop, known for her raw vocals, transparent storytelling, and unwavering faith. With over 1.37 million streams and the title of 2024 Avidity Award Worship + 808’s Artist of the Year, she’s becoming a voice of breakthrough for believers navigating real life. Her signature phrase, “Yeah I’m SET, I know I’m UP NEXT,”opens many of her tracks and captures the heart of her mission: With God, I’m secure. And in His timing, my moment is always coming. Her music blends smooth melodies with gritty faith-filled bars, influenced by artists like Brandy, MaryMary, Lauryn Hill, Eric Bellinger, and Andy Mineo, yet anchored in a style that’s unmistakably her own. Through every lyric and live performance, Relena-Rochelle reminds listeners that they are seen, chosen, and next in line for their blessing.
Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Rochelle spent most of her years mastering her art in a performing arts school in musical theater or at home playing piano while her peers played outside. Better known by her stage name, Relena-Rochelle, Relena spent every year singing in churches, showcases, charitable organizations, workshops, revivals, conferences, concerts, and school events, since the tender age of two. At the age of nine, she had hundreds of songs written that she would eventually start producing at the age of eleven.
Watching her daughter's talent unfold before her eyes, Relena's mother saw her potential and decided to help mold her daughter by forming a girl group with Relena, her sister, Reena, and her cousin called Angels in Harmony. By the age of twelve, she had released her first album entitled, Dreams. "Looking back on it, I've always loved music, but I didn't realize how young I was," said Rochelle.
Relena has already made a name for herself through her everlasting impression, meeting some of the biggest names in the world. With her unique sound, versatility, and infectious personality, she is catching the eye of up and coming artists and musicians who are simply captivated by her magnetic performance."I owe it all to God. He gets the glory," Rochelle reiterates.
In 2018, after graduating from college with a Master's in Business Administration, Relena spent some time taking care of her now five year old daughter. Diagnosed with global palsy, her daughter is said to be her testimony. "God had to work on me. I was so angry with Him. I didn't understand what He was doing at the time, but I trust Him with all of my heart. I have moments when I get frustrated, because simple everyday tasks become extra hard, but I was chosen as her mother for a reason. I still serve a good God. He still saw me when everyone else didn't. He still chose me when others abandoned me and left me. I will serve Him for the rest of my life with everything that I was given. It isn't about me. There's a bigger picture and I aim to bring more closer to Him. If He can save me, He can save anybody no matter how imperfect you may think you are," she says, "I wouldn't have made it this far without trusting Him. I used to have suicidal thoughts, and I used to think the world was a better place without me. The devil thought he had me, but God was always there. The truth is, I have a purpose and I can help to free others by sharing what God has done for me."
Relena works diligently to share her testimony to the world by using her gifts to glorify God. Her prodigious artistry continues to transcend into an extraordinary capacity as she challenges herself to innovate a new approach while advocating for self-worth and those like her daughter. Rochelle declares, "I'm happy wherever God wants to take me. I just want to be obedient to His will."
